Dr. Brian Geiger is a scholar, school administrator and advocate for disability civil rights, and presently serves as Executive Director of The Horizons School, licensed by the State of Alabama. Dr. Geiger earned graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina and Loyola University. He previously led innovative programs in public and private non-profits, including The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB); Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center; Volunteers of America; UCP of Greater Birmingham; Selma and Hoover City School Systems; Special Olympics Alabama; Alabama State Department of Education; Alabama Department of Public Health; McWane Science Center; Children’s of Alabama; American Cancer Society & Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation
of America. He received a Professional Service Award from The American Association for Health Education, Odessa Woolfolk Community Service Award and Dean’s Excellence in Mentorship Award, both from UAB, and Alabama Health Education Teacher of the Year award.
