B2-G: Teachers are not the enemy

This presentation will highlight the positive contributions of teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and others who work to support students with autism in Florida’s schools. Participants will learn about positive and negative portrayals of special educators in the popular media and some of the reasons for special education teacher shortages and vacancies in the schools. Presenters will provide recommendations for creative ways of supporting our Florida educators.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Participants will Identify characteristics of effective educators
2. Participants will discuss examples of positive educators they have encountered
3. Participants will articulate methods for supporting and enhancing special education services in the schools.
