Emily Cain is in her sixth year of teaching with Leon County Schools. She currently works at Leon High School where she teaches Access Science, and Access Math, and co-teaches a modified band class. Emily received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from The University of Tampa and her master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education at Southeastern University. She has pursued partnerships with multiple organizations and individuals throughout the community to collaborate on various projects. Some of these collaborations include the Florida State Sports Management and Florida State Music Education programs to provide opportunities for her students. She also pursued multiple artist residencies through Arts4All Florida for her students. Emily feels these partnerships and collaborations give her students opportunities they otherwise would not have or be exposed to.

Last year Emily partnered with the high school band director and an FSU Music Education professor to present at the FMEA Conference on teaching music in school to individuals with disabilities. The PEPSA Project is based on the work Emily has already been implementing at her school, with a comprehensive approach to modifying, adapting, and teaching music to individuals with disabilities.

Emily Cain is also an active member in her community and school outside the classroom. She is currently the head coach of the Leon High School Marching Redcoats Color Guard team. Emily serves as a volunteer, partner, and coach with Special Olympics. She also works with a local organization, Future Pathways, that provides job coaching and independent living services to individuals with disabilities.
