Ann was introduce to the field of autism when her own child was diagnosed at the age of 18 months. She began her work as a parent liaison for the Early Steps Program in the State of Florida. Her responsibilities involved working directly with families advocating for services and programs for children under the age of three identified as having a disability.
Ann was involved in many committees and boards including Children’s Services Council, The School District of Palm Beach County and as a board member with the ARC of Palm Beach County. In 1998, she was hired by the Preschool for Autism as a Director of Family Services. In 2001, Ann was hired by the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Palm Beaches to develop programs for individuals with disabilities. In 2007, Ann was hired as the Executive Director of the Palm Beach School for Autism(originally identified as the Preschool for Autism), a charter public school. The school began with just four students in a preschool program to over 390 students ages 3-22 years of age. The most recent success is the opening of the school’s Project Next Transition Program for 18-22 year old young adults. This program focus on job training and placement. The creation of a brand new gift box e-commerce business, EXIT 8480.com, was launched and provides jobs on campus for young adults on the spectrum. Ann’s greatest accomplishment is to know how many families they have served and the success of the students. She is excited to what the future may be for the school, as together with her team, they continue to plan and implement innovative programming.
