B5-G Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Adaptive Care Program
January 19, 2025
10:15am 11:30am
Forum East 4
Hospital visits can present challenges for most patients due to sudden disruptions in routine, unpredictability, and extended periods of waiting. These and other issues including communication gaps, overstimulation, and difficulty with transitions can be particularly taxing on neurodivergent individuals. Due to these circumstances, neurodivergent individuals, such as people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), may feel threatened or uncomfortable. Nicklaus™ Adaptive Care Program was developed to increase the quality of care, safety, and comfort for patients with ASD and those with communication or behavioral vulnerabilities. The program provides individualized care plans, staff training, community resources, and more during inpatient hospitalization
