ADOS -2 WORKSHOP

THURSDAY & FRIDAY, JANUARY 16-17, 2025

This 2-day live workshop teaches, through instruction and live demonstration, how to use the ADOS-2 to clinically assess and diagnose autism.

This workshop will be over 2 days for a total of 12 hours.

Thursday. January 16, 2025 8:30am-4:30pm

Friday. January 17, 2025 8:30am-4:30pm

Participants will learn how to use the ADOS 2 in clinical practice to assess and diagnose autism.

The ADOS 2 training will be held preceding the 32nd Annual Statewide CARD Conference. Registration for ADOS 2 does not include admission to the CARD Conference. ADOS-2 participants are entitled to a discount for the 32nd Annual Statewide CARD Conference when purchasing their ADOS-2 admission

IMPORTANT

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE AN ADOS 2 MANUAL and protocols.

If you do not have a manual, you must order a manual from WPS publishing. (WPS ADOS 2 Manual)

All participants will receive a certificate of completion. CEUs for ASHA and APA are available.
Please be aware that only medical doctors and psychologists or SLPs as part of a team may use the ADOS 2 to diagnose. All others may use it as a tool to evaluate an individual for progress.

Description

 PLEASE NOTE: you will not be able to take the course without the manual. Manuals are required for assessments during class.

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2 (ADOS 2) has become the standard instrument for assessing ASD across age, developmental level, and language skills.

1. Participants will learn how to use the ADOS 2 in clinical practice to assess and diagnose autism.

2. Participants will learn how to use the definitive autism assessment

3. Participants will benefit from the experience of an expert ADOS-2 instructor

4. Participants will practice scoring while observing ADOS-2 administrations

Cost includes the 2 half-day live webinar and Pre- and Post-course Materials. Cost does not include the ADOS-2 Manual, which is required and is sold separately. Course format includes a combination of lecture, demonstration, video presentation, and discussion and will allow participants to practice scoring .

Participants must have an ADOS-2 Manual to participate. Manuals can be purchased at WPS.

Dr. Morrier is an Associate Professor at the Emory Autism Center in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Morrier received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst; his master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Georgia; and his doctorate degree in Special Education from Georgia State University. Dr. Morrier has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2007. He was original certified on the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) in 1997 and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) in 1998, both of which he has been using clinically and for research to diagnosis young children suspected of being on the autism spectrum. Since 2015, Dr. Morrier has been involved with expanding the capacity of community-based licensed psychologists to identify and diagnosis young children suspected of autism by training providers on how to use the ADOS-2 in their clinical practices. Dr. Morrier’s current research is focusing on validation of a Smartphone app used to diagnosis children referred from their pediatrician after failing the M-CHAT-R/F, as well as piloting a remote telehealth assessment protocol for young children at high-risk for autism referred by their early intervention district. Dr. Morrier previously participated on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Autism Surveillance project (ADDM Network) as an expert clinical reviewer from 1999 – 2020. Dr. Morrier is currently on the editorial boards of the Journal for Autism and Development Disorders and the Journal of Special Education. He is past President of the Georgia Division for Early Childhood subdivision (2015-2021).

Registration cancellations received on or before the deadline will be eligible for a refund minus a one-time $35 processing fee. Note: The amount refunded will never exceed the amount paid.

Cancellation requests postmarked AFTER December 16, 2024, and electronic cancellation requests posted after MIDNIGHT December 15, 2024, will not be eligible for a refund.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units for APA (12) and ASHA (1.2) are available for an additional fee of $60. CEUs are contracted with various brokers. Fees are not assessed by the accrediting agency. Participants must log in and attend each day with their video camera on at all times to earn CEU points.

This course is focused exclusively on ADOS-2 and does not discuss other similar or related products.

This course is offered for 1.2 ASHA CEUs (Advanced level, Professional area).

This course is offered for 12 APA CEUS (Advanced level)
