Flexibility is a common challenge for individuals on the autism spectrum. Flexibility is essential for daily life, academic success, and healthy interpersonal relationships. This presentation will provide an understanding of what cognitive flexibility is, as well as several strategies to improve flexibility in our students, children, and other loved ones. We will review how executive functioning impacts flexibility, as well as how specific language can promote and encourage flexible thinking.
