B3-G What Does That Even Mean

Navigating the various acronyms, abbreviations, and technical jargon used in the world of education can be very frustrating.  It is difficult to feel confident about decisions around services for our children when half the vocabulary being used is a mystery. This session will define and explain some of the most common terms families may encounter during their children’s educational careers. Parents are encouraged to bring examples of conversations that left them feeling confused so they can ask, “WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??”

Learning Outcomes:

1.  Increase understanding of acronyms used in education related to what the abbreviations stand for and the meanings behind them.
2. Increase understanding of the processes and procedures that relate to those terms so they are grounded in a context that makes sense.
3. Connect educational terms to Federal and state law and the rules which flesh them out.
4. Empower parents to speak up when they don’t understand.
