First, I will review some ways that young people with ASD can struggle with social communication, peer interaction and emotional regulation. Then, I will present some freely available social skills learning activities which attendees can consider using in their own work . (All resources presented are available at autismteachingstrategies.com.)
- Attendees will be able to describe several ways that students with ASD are affected by communication, emotional and interaction challenges.
- With fellow conference attendees, we will briefly try out anime based emotional identification and a quick, visual method of helping students find common interests.
- Attendees will be introduced to some other free download resources created by Joel Shaul, and
examine implementation strategies.
