FB2-B: Let your Students Move: The Effect of Movement on Restrictive Repetitive Behaviors (RRB’s)

“Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a unique set of characteristics that may impact the way individuals in the spectrum communicate, behave and interact with others. Although ASD there are certain characteristics that are associated with autism, ASD is known to manifest uniquely in each individual. Characteristics of ASD include social and communication issues, restricted interests, and adherence to fixed routines (i.e., RRB/s) that impact  day-to-day activities at home, school, and the community. In this training, we discuss the impact of movement activities on reducing some of the RRBs behaviors that may interfere with learning of academic and daily living skills in students with ASD and the importance of RRBs as a form of self-expression.”
