B1-D: Job SEEKers: A Competitive Employment Readiness Model for Autistic Adults

Autistic job seekers face many challenges in competitive employment, which research shows may be directly related to their ASD symptoms. The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Transition and Adult Team at UM-NSU CARD developed Job SEEKers (Seeking and Enhancing Employment Knowledge), an intensive employment readiness program for autistic adults. This presentation will share the key components of the program which focuses on the integration of employment-related skills and social skills training. A manualized handbook will be reviewed along with other components of ongoing employment support. These materials are available for dissemination to schools, vocational programs, and community stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Participants will learn about the goal and structure of the UM-NSU CARD Job SEEKers program.
  2. Participants will gain knowledge about the supplemental supports offered to the autistic adults who complete the Job SEEKers program.
  3. Participants will have access to the Job SEEKers Program Handbook, online companion website, tools, and strategies for effective implementation.
