Cecilia Alvarez-Tabio

Cecilia Alvarez-Tabío is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and serves as Manager of the Division of Assessment and Intervention Services and Training Coordinator at University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD). She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology and received her BACB certification in 2010. Cecilia has been working with children with ASD for the past 15 years. Prior to joining CARD, she worked at Citrus Health identifying developmental red flags in young children through screenings in preschool classrooms. She ran a parent-child early intervention program for children diagnosed with autism and provided in-home consultations. She provides clinical support and consultation services to families registered with CARD as well as to professionals on the field. Cecilia is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) as well as RUBI Parent Training for Disruptive Behaviors. She facilitates parent trainings that teach social communication skills as well as discipline strategies to manage problem behaviors. Additionally, Cecilia serves as the coordinator for the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of clinical and training services provided by University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD). She is the author of Project G.R.A.S.P.- A manual for clinicians to teach parent-mediated interventions that promote social communication and play skills for their child with ASD. Her research interests focus on parent-child intervention programs. Cecilia has presented on topics related to ASD and parent training at numerous local, statewide, and global conferences.
