Katie Wentley is the Health and Wellness Director at Connections Education Center in West Palm Beach, FL. She graduated from Florida State University and is working on completing her Master’s in Exceptional Student Education. Katie began working with individuals with autism in 2010, teaching them how to swim. Since then, Katie has continued teaching swimming along with working in self-contained classrooms. Katie built the health and wellness program at Connections which includes swimming, fitness, and nutrition with every student at the school. She is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, and OTFIT and TRX certified. The swim program provides one on one swim lessons from a certified Water Safety instructor to individuals with autism throughout their school day. Over the last six years, Katie has taught and fine-tuned an aquatics and water safety program for individuals with autism and has added a parent training portion. The program data shows great success and progress teaching lessons to over one hundred fifty students. She hopes that program will continue to grow so that she can help more families and children.
