Krystal Fontechia

Krystal is a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) in the Department of Child & Family Studies at the University of South Florida (USF). She received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology and Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from the University of South Florida. She is currently a senior behavior analyst at the Interdisciplinary Center for Evaluation and Intervention (ICEI), a Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resource System clinic providing behavioral evaluations and evidence‑based interventions for students with complex needs. In addition to her work at the clinic, she serves as a research coach for the ePTR Coach research project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, with the initiative to develop and pilot test a virtual “Prevent‑Teach‑Reinforce” (PTR) coaching model for improving behavioral outcomes in K‑5 students with or at risk for disabilities. She has extensive experience implementing the Prevent‑Teach‑Reinforce (PTR) model, a research‑based, manualized Tier 3 process for developing and implementing individualized Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) through a collaborative, team‑based approach. She also served as the Research Coordinator on a tri-state project aimed at designing a modular framework for school teams in addressing concerns of individual students with autism (Modular Approach for Autism Programming in Schools). She has served individuals with autism and related disabilities, their families and school teams since 2007. She is passionate about empowering families and school teams, teaching functional skills in the natural environment, and making learning fun.
