B2-F: The Devastating Impact of the Digital Age on Sexual Violence for Autistic Adolescents

Sexual violence poses a myriad of challenges to affected school-aged individuals, but especially individuals with autism spectrum disorder. School-aged individuals with autism spectrum disorder are significantly more susceptible to sexual violence than non-autistic individuals. This session aims to discuss risk factors for autistic individuals, as well potential online risk factors which sexual predators exploit to gain access to school-aged autistic individuals.

Learning Outcomes:

1. To understand the risk factors that make school-aged autistic individuals more susceptible to sexual abuse than non-autistic individuals.

2. To be able to identify digital access points through which school-aged autistic individuals are often targeted by sexual abusers.

3. The impact that free digital access can have without supervision.”
