Karen Isrow

Karen Isrow is a speech-language pathologist who began her career with the Citrus County Schools in August of 1996 being placed at Pleasant Grove Elementary School in 1998. In 2016 Karen moved to secondary level, serving as Speech Language Pathologist at Inverness Middle School and Citrus High School as well as working with students at CREST ESE Center School and the Transition academy at Withlacoochee Technical College. In her role as a speech-language pathologist she has worked with students with autism throughout her career. Karen has been a PEPSA partner twice. First in 2004/2005 with and then in 2015/2016. In her 28 years in education, Karen has seen many changes in the field of education and autism. She continues to work with students in small group language therapy to develop skills necessary to make students with autism successful, but this success is now more often than not seen in the general education classroom with support rather than in the special education setting. Karen sees the need for expressive and social language skills to transfer across school settings to make students with autism successful not only in therapy, but throughout the educational experience.
