B3E:Understanding the assessment tools used in the diagnostic process of Autism Spectrum Disorder

AbstractThere is a multitude of evaluations utilized during the diagnostic process for the identification of autism spectrum disorder. While naming conventions across evaluations may differ, many of the characteristics measured overlap. This session will look at providing a basic understanding to parents undergoing the diagnosis or re-evaluation process relating to these evaluations. It will be breaking down the characteristics measured, scoring criteria, and defining terminology commonly used across these assessments.
Objectives1. Attendees will become familiar with the assessments frequently employed in diagnosing autism spectrum disorder.
2. Participants will have a basic understanding of the characteristics measured and scoring criteria within each assessment.
3. Attendees will become familiar with fundamental terms that are frequently used in the evaluations.
