B5B: Autism Advocacy Interrupted: Bridging Divides and Amplifying Diverse Voices

Abstract Autism advocacy is a landscape rich with passion, knowledge, and lived experience — yet it is often fragmented, with competing narratives and gaps in understanding. Autism Advocacy Interrupted explores the challenges and opportunities within the autism community, emphasizing the importance of unity, inclusivity, and representation across the spectrum. This session will provide caregivers, clinicians, educators, and advocates with actionable strategies to engage meaningfully, foster collaboration, and amplify diverse voices in autism advocacy. Participants will leave with tools to navigate differing perspectives while promoting shared goals for individuals with autism and their families.  
Objectives1.   Recognize the fragmentation in the autism advocacy community and the impact it can have on policy, services, and public perception. 2.   Apply strategies for inclusive advocacy that honor diverse perspectives, communication styles, and lived experiences across the spectrum. 3.   Implement actionable approaches to collaboration between families, educators, clinicians, and community organizations to create a more unified and effective advocacy effort.
