Designed for families, caregivers, and professionals at all levels.

Learning Outcomes:

Become familiar with the options parents/guardians have when it comes to Special Needs Trusts, and identify which trust structure is appropriate based on the source of funds and the beneficiary’s circumstances.

Identify at least three common estate planning mistakes made by families of individuals with disabilities (such as direct inheritance, improper beneficiary designations, and ABLE account misuse) and describe strategies to correct or avoid them.

Recognize the legal duties and limitations of a Special Needs Trust trustee, and explain why trustee selection and successor planning are critical components of a comprehensive disability estate plan.
