Florida's First Choice for Autism Supports
Kacie M. McGarry, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is a Behavior Analyst in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida. Her research and clinical work focus on the assessment and treatment of severe and dangerous behavior, interdisciplinary models of care, and workforce issues impacting the availability and quality of applied behavior analysis (ABA) services.
She assists on a multi-year state-funded grant examining the shortage of behavior therapists in Florida and strategies to improve access, quality, and interdisciplinary coordination. Through a funded contract with the Florida Autism Center, she contributes to a multi-year clinical project now serving as an Associate Director at the Specialty Clinic for Problem Behavior Assessment and Treatment at UF CAN, where she oversees complex clinical cases and contributes to program development. Her work has been published across multiple behavior-analytic journals, with several manuscripts currently in progress that address collaborative psychiatric–behavior-analytic care, measurement of severity in functional analysis, and the contextual properties of automatically reinforced pica.
Additionally, Dr. McGarry has taught graduate coursework in assessment, ethics, and supervised fieldwork at the Florida Institute of Technology, and assists with training child psychiatry fellows within the UF Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program. She has developed multiple clinical training toolkits, including resources for severe behavior management and technician onboarding.
