Maria Silva

Maria A. Silva, Ph.D., is a CARD Specialist for the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. In July 2024, Maria earned her doctoral degree from Florida International University, in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Special Education. Her research interests include exploring the social experiences of adolescents with ASD, teacher preparation programs, and supporting RELD students with disabilities in inclusive settings. Before joining CARD, Maria was an elementary Special Education teacher for 15 years in the fourth-largest urban school district in the United States.   Nina Garcia, a CARD Specialist at the NSU Satellite office, holds a B.S. in Exceptional Student Education. With three years of teaching experience in Miami-Dade County Public Schools across resource, co-teach, and self-contained classroom settings, she now supports educators and caregivers in the autism community. At CARD, Nina leads Teacher’s Chat and co-facilitates Coach’s Circle and Just for Moms Broward.
