Rachel Schwitters

Rachel has a Master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education from Saint Leo University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of South Florida. She holds a current Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary and Exceptional Student Education with both a Reading and ESOL endorsement. Ms. Schwitters began her career as a Speech/Language Assistant in the public school system, before becoming a varying exceptionalities teacher in Hillsborough County. After 12 years in the K-12 school system, Rachel transitioned to working in higher education in Disability Services. Seven years later, before coming to CARD, she was serving as the Director of Disability Services at a state college. Rachel is also an adjunct instructor teaching Education courses, to help prepare future special educators. Rachel’s passion for working with individuals with disabilities stemmed from learning American Sign Language in high school and has never faltered. Her interests include educational accessibility, transition services, and conducting professional trainings.
