B2G: The intersection between ABA, executive functioning, and self-determination

AbstractThis session will offer a rationale for embedding executive functioning and self-determination skills into traditional ABA instructional strategies.  Participants will learn how to decide what to teach and how to teach these skills across age groups.  Suggestions for addressing skill and motivation deficits will be offered.
Objectives1.   Explain the rationale for integrating executive functioning and self-determination skills into ABA-based instructional strategies.
2.   Identify age-appropriate executive functioning and self-determination skills and describe how to embed them within ABA instruction.
3.   Develop strategies to address both skill acquisition and motivational deficits when teaching executive functioning and self-determination.
