B4E: Battling Bullying, Advancing Acceptance, and Encouraging Empathy

AbstractEvidence shows that children with disabilities are two to three times more likely to be bullied than their peers without a disability, and over 60% of children and young adults with autism have experienced bullying in their lifetimes. Our society is experiencing an epidemic of misinformation and misunderstanding. This presentation will share strategies for battling bullying, advancing acceptance, and encouraging empathy across K-12 classrooms. Discussion points, hands-on activities, videos, and book resources across age and grade-levels will be shared.
