January 16, 2027 02:00PM 03:15PM Legacy South 2
Each year, parents and caregivers are faced with conveying the “must knows” about their child to new teachers and therapists. This session will provide tips for parents: what are the most important things you need your child’s team to know. Specifically, this training will instruct parents and caregivers how to convey “five things you need to know” about autism and “five things you can do.” Tips for creating an “All About Me” book for new teachers and therapists will also be shared.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will learn how to explain the basics of autism to their child’s teacher.
Participants will explain how the characteristics of autism affect their child’s learning.
Participants will describe three strengths associated with autism.
Participants will give three examples of how visual supports can help their child with autism.
Participants will give two examples of how teachers can make their instructions clear and concrete for their child.
